Re: Stock Speaker Upgrade

I'd priced out the Infinity Reference series, but am thinking about going the actual Boston aftermarket route. If you head over to sonicelectronix.com and have them price match other sites, the 3.5's should be under $60 and the 6.5's should be under $70. I'm picking up the conversion plates ($3/each) for 6x9 to 6.5 as I've heard that most 6x9's are too deep for the doors without modifications.

Also, check out the $4 adapters for Mopar speakers, makes installing/uninstalling a breeze from those factory connectors.

Bs, no such thing as too deep on these systems.you not taking these to competition and you want more low end sound which the 6x9 provide. Especially without a sub

Lol just reread that. They are NOT too deep for mounting depth. Fit is perfect, and actually, what Ive seen, most like reference for the price vs kappa.

I highly considered kappa, but the freq response is about the same vs the reference series and kappa are about $20+ more a speaker.

Also inexpensive. I shopped around and pieced together my system from different sites. Spent a total of only $400 including, alpine top of the line HU, 2 6.5s, 2 6x9s, 2 3.5s, dash kit and harness. You could get away with getting just the 6 speakers for around $170
Just ordered the same set up! Hope its as good as you say it is

Re: Stock Speaker Upgrade

If you don't get a badasss HU it won't be as good, but if you did... Prepare to be blown away.

I've considered getting alpines power to pack which amps them 45w per channel but it's unneeded as normal listening volume is at 5 already haha

Re: Stock Speaker Upgrade

Yes. Their sound is great and paired with the 3.5's the clarity is delicious. They give such a great mid-upper tone not achieved by 6.5's or 6x9's alone, and the placement of them is perfect as the sound reflects off the windsheild. My main reason for getting new speakers was that people in my back seat only heard bass and no voice. With these speakers you can hear the song and vocals from any point of my jeep.

The main difference is the power delivered to the speakers, my alpine is about double what the stock HU sends. You will still love them.

Re: Stock Speaker Upgrade

If you have ths boston system...

1. Is there a way to tell besides finding a Boston logo somewhere?
2. What kind of power does that amp put out per channel?

Re: Stock Speaker Upgrade

1. Look through the vents in the back, you should see an amp. Or there should be a decal on your speakers on the doors.

2. No idea. Check wkjeeps.com
