Upgrade from REQ

Hey everyone so just like a lot of other people I serched and had trouble finding what exactly I needed to upgrade my system. SO I asked a fellow member on here. I just want to say thank you so much for your help JMLoughrey! I did read post but I Was confused I wasn't sure what system everyone else came from. So here it goes I have REQ with amp without Boston acoustics. IF your not sure what radio you have you can go here and check http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_radios.htm Now to find out if you have
an amp open up the hatch of your wk. Take a flash light to the drivers side vents and look forward towards the drivers seat you will see a silver metal thing it actually looks like metal fins that is the amp. Last and final thing the Boston acoustics. I am not 100% on this one but if you have them I would guess that you have the badged on the speaker cover. Ok now the parts I needed...

Jeep grand Cherokee navigation bezel (ebay just type it in just like that) cost $100.00 shipped
Metra XSVI-6502Nav Wiring harness
Metra 40-CR10 Antenna Adapter
Metra ASWC Steering wheel control module (if you have SWC) (which I do have and can't live without)
Metra 99-6510 Dash Kit
( all the Metra I got off amazon all for $115.25 shipped )
I was thinking I was going to need to bypass the amp. Once again I was wrong JMLoughrey told me."You do not need to bypass the amp, the XSVI Harness will integrate right into it." WOW seems pretty easy.

Now I am currently waiting on delivery. according to est delivery dates they will be here by next Friday. As of right now I Never felt comfortable doing the wires myself. 1 because I love the professional look and never had the tools before to do it. 2 It is a lot of wires and if one thing doesn't work or you don't do it correctly you have to test wires for signal and re connect. Im going to think about it for the next week if im going to do it or not. Btw "this link http://www.axxessinterface.com/steer...ntrol_new.aspx
will provide you with the proper wiring for your WK once you enter in the information. " ( JMLoughrey ) Basically I am just taking little bit of my research and all the knowledge from JMLoughrey and putting it together published for anyone who may have the same system or need help finding it not that there are not threads about this but I had trouble because I couldn't find anyone with the same system and I had to do a lot of research to figure out what I had and didn't. This is just my experience I hope It helps some one and I will have pictures up soon + install

just wondering how much all of this would cost in parts and labor? i have an 08 with a RES... if i ever wanted to upgrade to say a RER with the navigation and touch screen and bluetooth, I'd like to know how much it would run me approximately. or even upgrade to a 3rd party like pioneer that does the same.

Re: Upgrade from REQ

I upgraded to an ALpine W910 and i absolutley love it. All i needed was the limited bezel, dash kit and wiring harness. I dont have steering wheel controls so mine was a little bit easier. It is not that hard to wire the harness, just follow the directions and you will be fine.
