upgrade rec navigation

I have the REC Navigation in my jeep. I want to upgrade to touchscreen but still have a 6 disc changer and navigation and I have the dvd player in the back that I still want to be able to control. also I want Bluetooth and an aux Jack. What would be best to upgrade to?

Re: upgrade rec navigation

If you want factory stuff, you can upgrade to an RER MyGig as long as it is the RER is the low-speed bus. You'll need a lockpick as well. The bezel is different so you would have to mod up a piece to fill in the gaps.

The CAN BUS works at different frequencies. There is a high speed and low speed. You want the low speed one. I guess the high speed will not speak the same language.

Are you asking about the piece to fill the gaps in the bezel if you changed to the rer mygig? If so I found it on eBay for under $40.

Re: upgrade rec navigation

I wanted to upgrade my stock stereo in my 07 wk laredo (its the base model, no amp) to the REC nav unit and buy the nav bezel and what not, but after doing some research i went with an aftermarket Appradio 2 & used the axxess 6502 CAN bus adapter for the wire harness with a relay i rigged up to bypass the whole Ebrake thing, and decided against buying the overpriced nav bezel (i really wasnt a fan of how it looked). So hopefully the pictures post so you can see my end result

Re: upgrade rec navigation

Other then the cost of the headunit (appradio 2) and the axxess harness it was a cheap install since i made everything else. I made the mounting brakets out of sheet metal and the trim piece i made from a thin sheet of black plastic, cut it to size, sanded down the corners and rounded everything out. I also had to cut into the radio bezel a bit because the stock stereo is only a 1 & 1/2 din. I had to make some kind of trim piece to cover the knob notchs from stock stereo
