you didnt install anything you just took off the hook and put on something else... in order to fully install both the hook and the piece it mounts to, you need to take off the bumper because the piece that the hooks or anything else that might mount on to that piece slides in through a hole in the frame and comes out the bottom with threaded male pieces so you can bolt stuff on to it

tman1423 is on a distinguished road
I love them. But when I installed them I had it jacked up so it was easier to get under and take off the 4XGuard front skid plate I have so when I first saw them on it was raised and now everytime I look I think it looks off without a lift. Easy solution though. GET A LIFT!!!

Sorry Greg I have to agree with DGora... I installed the shackle mounts on my rig and I had to remove the bumper cover to access certain areas. Says so in the instructions even. If you already had tow hooks installed and you just had to take the nut off the bolts to install the bracket than I can see getting to the space with some finagling but if you have to put the bolts through the holes.

Ok I read your install and the two bolts on the outside of your brackets, to install them there is a cavity behind the bumper cap that has to be removed to install them. Check out DGoras pix in the beginning of the thread and you'll understand

I saw that too but I took the rear entrance and it worked just fine. I took out the stock bolts, cleaned em and put them back in, again from the rear lol. I'm sure it would have been muuuuuuch easier but I was lazy ad it worked out. When I do my HID conversion I'll de take that beeyatch off.

Re: 06 WK Tow Hook Install

Hm, ok if you're a rear entrance kind of guy by all means have at it. hahaha sorry I had to since you left that one floating in the air. But seriously if that worked cool. I'll have to try that way when ever I scrape up the loot for the Matrix brush guard. The bumper removal isn't difficult but still a pain in the ass in comparison to the ol reach around method you say works.

im sure we can all agree that the reach around method should always be first choice
