I am going to be installing one on my wk but wanted to know how long of a coax cord do I need if I am mounting it on the back of my jeep. Im ordering the Firestik Firefly antenna, and buying a Cobra cb. Thanks guys, and gals.

Re: CB install

I reccomend the 4xguard cb mount, as for mounting the cb I read in the past where one member put it inside the storage pocket to the left of the steering wheel or you could mount it inside or on the side of the center cOnsole

Re: CB install

Guys, as for mounting the actual radio, I had mine mounted on the panel that sits below the steering wheel. It sat right in front of my left knee and I always hit it getting in and out of the truck. So about a week ago I moved it right into the dash. I have an 06 with the REQ (I believe), so I don't have nab. All you have to do is remove the bezel covering the factory radio, cut out a little bit in the center and vuala.....you have a CB mounted right in your dash!

I ran the wires right by the ignition, down into the fuse box area. And if you make good cuts, you don't even need to secure the CB in place, the pressure of the bezel is seriously plenty to keep it snug and in place. I wheeled a little today with it in there and it didn't move an inch!

Haha ya it looks ghetto but it functions very well. Easy to see and operate, and for a cb that's what you want. I highly doubt a cb will fit in that cubby down there

Re: CB install

I used this. WK CB Mounting Bracket for Cobra 75WXST: Aspen Creek Offroad of Colorado
and 18ft firering coax with this mount:
CB Antenna Mount (LH): Aspen Creek Offroad of Colorado

the radio is hidden under the dash and all that is visible is the handheld part. I also like that all the wire is hidden. I run that wire behind the tail light, under the rear bumper, drilled a hole in the rear hatch area, fed it back up, and into the vehicle along the driver side. perfect amount of cable for that.
