Re: DIY WK spring install-use for shocks and struts as well

Has anyone done the fronts without a compressor, using the eibachs?

that is an SRT guys....you dont need to cut the bumpstops unless you are installing SRT springs on the WK

read the thread guys...this is from a guy on the SRT site. I got his permission to use this here. It dosnt show him using a compressor...so i'm assuming he didnt need one. I took some stock SRT springs off a set of front SRT struts and I didnt need a compressor. Where you may need te compressor is putting the drop spring on....

Re: DIY WK spring install-use for shocks and struts as well

Does anyone happen to have a stock front WK spring not on a strut they can measure, or tell me how long it is not compressed so I can compair it to my eibachs.

You should have bought them mounted. I have 2 sets of spare shocks/struts.

Yes you did. Had I known you were going to have a problem with getting them mounted on struts, I would have offered to do it for you. I assume you are using the original WK struts and not the srt.

Yes, I am only changing the springs. I bought a "clam shell" type spring compressor, but the arms of it wont fit between the upper coils on the fronts. Only the bottm 3 coils are set wide enough to fit them in. How much do they have to be compressed to get the nut on the strut all the way? And what type of compressor do you use? I was thinking just taking them out and going to a shop to have the springs done, save me money doing most myself. The jeep dealer near me quoted 4 hours labor, and they do not like installing parts I didnt buy from them. he even asked why on earth i'd want my WK lowered, saying most want them jacked up. I asked him if he ever heard of the srt8 and he said i should of bought that then if thats the look I want. What an a-hole.
