Re: Finally got rid of suspension clunk

It doesn't matter what year it is, as long you got steering rack, you should have those yoke adjusment nut.

Just note typically rack and gear box adjustments are not reversable... You only go tighter... Not 100% sure why, thats just what I was taught. So try all you wish, just keep that in mind!

Btw that looks like an inverse tork or etorx bolt head, possibly an e10 or e12... Maybe an e14

Re: Finally got rid of suspension clunk

I did that yoke adjustment in my honda couple of months ago, and it works well.. This is to adjust that yoke properly..

Re: Finally got rid of suspension clunk

Help! I can't find the yoke adjustment bolt on mine. I have the 5.7 Hemi and it's not by the oil filter as far as I can tell. Anyone know where it is, or might be?

Re: Finally got rid of suspension clunk

Anyone looking for the exact socket size to buy to make this adjustment it is an E20. I tried with a 15mm 12pt socket and it felt like i was going to round off the adjustment nut, so i opted to order the correct socket for the job.

The one i ordered:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

Soon as it arrives im going to make this adjustment and report back. Im just hoping that it being an impact socket wont effect the fittment around the adjustment nut, as most sockets are thin walled vs impact that a slightly thicker.

Re: Finally got rid of suspension clunk

*update*
...i wasn't able to get the socket i ordered to fit in there properly. There is a beam directly in front of the torx nut and it wouldnt allow my socket to fit in there correctly. Had i tried to tighten this up i would have striped the torx head. Im going to have to find a shallow E20 socket. Stay tuned!

ok.

I just don't get how you were able to tighten that up without rounding off the torx head. I tried with a 12pt 15mm and it slipped off the torx head twice and started to round off the edges on me so i stopped. I am very mechanically inclined when it comes to working on cars/trucks. I just don't see how else it can be adjusted (properly) without dropping the rack out of the truck. Thats why i went out and ordered an E-20 socket in hopes it would fit in there, but to my luck it didn't because of clearance with the frame structure right in front of it.

Im going to keep hunting around until i find a small enough socket (e-20) that will give me the clearance i need to give her a quick tweak.

As i previously stated, there its no proper adjustment, chrysler service information states this and states a new rack its required. That being said adjust at your own risk!

thanks, but that still doesn't help me get a socket in there to tighten it up
