You would have everything don't know why it wouldn't work.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

Re: Full power train swap question

I'm assuming the powertrain you want to use is an upgrade from your 3.7?

If so, I think would encourage you to really think twice about the idea. It would be a HUGE job to switch everything over, and no guarantee that things would work when all is said and done. These vehicles have so many electronic modules and components that are all integrated and programmed to work with one another, even after the physical change over of parts there is likely going to be a lot of switching over of modules, sensors, etc., for everything to work properly. Missing one will be a nightmare to trouble shoot, as the OBD protocols aren't going to be all that informative for such extensive work.

If you're doing it because it would be a fun/interesting project and you have all the time in the world, then maybe it would be worth it. If you are doing it to try and save some money, I think you would be better off putting aside the cost of the donor vehicle and use it as a down payment on the vehicle you actually want.

If you search the forum, there have been discussions in the past of similar things, most of which I believe end with the same conclusion...likely not worth it.

If you do decide to go this route though, I'm sure many members would love to hear about the swap and see pictures along the way!

Re: Full power train swap question

I think if the donor vehicle has everything you need including wiring harnesses, computers, etc, then it is much more possible. Also consider that the donor vehicle may have a different 4wd system than yours so you'd probably want to convert it to what it has, say QDII or QTII. At this point, it might be easier just saving your money and buying a new WK if you really want it. However, if you have the experience, time, and access to all the right tools, it is feasible, IMO.

Thank you guys for the replies. Once my trans comes in for my truck ill be able to have the time to do the swap if i so decide the donor vehicle has everything i was planing on transferring the all power train components so ill be able to have 4lo also. It also has the interior i want which i might get it for just that to swap over. I do have the tools, time, and am very capable of performing the swap im just unsure of if ill have to swap the gauge cluster and other misc components as well to where id have to swap the wiring harness from the dash as well if i can id rather not have to do that the engine and trans harness are easy for me but behind the dash is another story because of how time consuming the routing is . if i do do it i was gonna swap the computer engine trans t/c axels and interior such as the trim and seats for 1700 it seems like a good option to pretty much get a new wk since i can preform all the work myself and have the capabilities.

Re: Full power train swap question

What engine does the donor vehicle have? Even if you don't end up swapping, you could easily make up that $1700 and more by parting things out, assuming it's in good condition.

Dang and only $1700 for the whole car? It might just be easier fixing up that car and selling your V6!

I had thought about that option too i have all the stuff to repar the side impact damage itll be tome consuming but worth it. My only draw back is itll have a salvage title so if anything happens im up a creek
