Re: How to-2008 OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee HID headlights on an 05-07

I just bought the OEM HIDs to do the conversion in my '09 and before I did I read Scottina's how to thus, I ordered two of the HID relay harnesses but my question is why do I need them? Is it not possible to just wire the HID ballast directly to the low beam wires on the 9006 harness? If not, I can easily run the relays but I don't want to if I don't have to. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: How to-2008 OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee HID headlights on an 05-07

we use the relay to connect the oems ballasts straight to the battery just like with aftermarket HID ballasts. The large amount of power needed at STARTUP of the lamps is too much for the oem wiring to handle. PLUS...if you ever want to go back to halogen lights(if you sell your Jeep etc) the oem wiring is still intact and not hacked up. The relays provide protection for the oem wiring and the lamps. Please take a look at my second how to for a clean plug and play solution.

you should just be able to unplug them like any other headlights if you did it as scott suggested.

Re: How to-2008 OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee HID headlights on an 05-07

So here's the deal, I have aftermarket HID's in my 2010 limited WK, and I have been looking madly for the type that scottina06 has on his SRT8. Or anything similar to the ones in the thread. My questions, where did you get the headlight housing? Do you know if it would work in my 2010 limited WK? Thanks you so much.

pretty sure it'll work on your 2010, try looking on ebay, car-part.com, and once in a while a member sells a set...oh and we also have a vendor here that sells them painted...good luck!

Re: How to-2008 OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee HID headlights on an 05-07

Hey Rob, new to JG, I have a 05 WK and I bought 2 sets of bixenon HID with Halo kits to go into the light. I am having a hellova time trying to get the high beam and low beam to coordinate. I wired the harness into the existing 9005/9006 harness and both the projectors turn on but when you put high beams on they open the cut-off so to make two high beam lights per headlamp. My question is... Is there a way to wire the lights so that I can have two projectors in each housing, one that works with low and daytime, and one that turns on only for high beam? I seen you have dont the quad retrofit so maybe you have some answers?
