Re: How to "activate" a switch blank '08+ (radar detector hardwire remote mute/LEDs)

On the factory switches, is each switch connected to a separate "plug" and harness? So if I had six switches, there would be six individual plugs. Like the install, thought about doing similar, but purchase a new switch bank with more switches than I need.

Nope, they're all part of the same circuit board and there's only one plug for the entire bank

Re: How to "activate" a switch blank '08+ (radar detector hardwire remote mute/LEDs)

Thanks, I realized that is how it probably worked after I sent the message. More switches probably a different factory plug with more pins and wires. So if I had more switches, then the plug would be different. If existing plug would fit and activate the existing switches and leave spare pins, that would work. Sorry, started thinking out loud.

Are you thinking the OEM switches are "standard" switches that have exposed pins? If so, they're not. They're membrane switches that are part of the circuit board, which would be virtually impossible to tap into for another use.

Thanks! Once I get some time, I'm going to activate another using a latching switch for rock lights. I picked up the switch, but I'm not sure if it'll fit.

Re: How to "activate" a switch blank '08+ (radar detector hardwire remote mute/LEDs)

Looking at your picture, it shows a white square or rectangle which I guess the factory harness goes to. I would have to see one, (since I am only going by your pictures) but I am guessing that for each switch on the circuit board there is a corresponding wire or wires that go to a relay or to the device. The more switches, the more wires, the more pins, the larger the connector. Again, since I have not seen it in person, then I have to guess just from the pictures that you have posted. But, this does give me a place to start.
Thanks
