Re: HOW TO: Change out PRND Bezel/Gear Shift

Thank you!!! Excellent write up and valuable info! I'll store this in my memory banks in case my jeep starts acting like this I'll know what to do.

Yeah I know I should clean them, Rob. But winter’s coming and I’m often a long way from a paved road on the weekends. Can’t afford not to succeed the first time with this repair. It went into limp mode on a merge last week while a guy was trying to let me in. I could only decelerate and that was maddening for both of us! Not to mention dangerous with the family in the Jeep. I'll get the old part and clean the contacts and keep it as a spare. Small consolation there.

I ended up replacing mine after cleaning as it did not fix the problem. I've never had any issues after swapping the part. For me, the peace of mind of knowing it was fixed was worth the money

Re: HOW TO: Change out PRND Bezel/Gear Shift

\there are 2 screws underneath the switch needs removed . if you have the 4Lo you have to remove the whole console.......

pull off the vents at the back from the bottom. 2 screws back there. one under the cup holder. thats it. and it comes UP. then you can get them 2 screws in the 4LO handle.

it just pops off. there are a few pressure clips around the edge. if you have a 4 lo switch then you will have to remove the whole shifter because that is screwed in
