Excellent write up!

I'll be using this when I put my new backing plates on shortly.

Re: how to change your rear wheel bearings (2006 WK)

Great Right up. So i started working on this. Once i removed the hub bots the hub and axle came out with a single tap of the hammer. I think this is likely due to having my rear diff replaced. Any suggestions on what i can do once the axle and hub are removed?

I liked your description and pictures - excellent! Question - at one pt you talk about removing an o-ring that retains the rotor. I do not seem to have this on my 2005 laredo, and I do not see how an o-ring (rubber?) can retain a rotor. MY rotor came right off. Please explain. Thanks!

Re: how to change your rear wheel bearings (2006 WK)

the o-ring is for factory assembly only. just to keep the rotor on until the caliper is installed. it is discarded the first time the rotors are changed.

Re: how to change your rear wheel bearings (2006 WK)

You did a nice job on your How To DIY. In my case I have differential oil leaking on the passenger side rear. When I got it apart I was surprised to find it had a bearing hub assembly. Makes life a whole lot easier. In one step you said "THERE IS AN O-RING ON THE OLD HUB THAT YOU WILL NEED TO RE-USE IN THE NEW HUB ON THE SIDE THAT GOES INTO THE AXLE (ON THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER)". I don't seem to have this O-ring. There is some signs of PermaTex. Could this be the reason I have an Oil leak? Many miles ago the dealer did some work on the rear and may have replaced the assembly. There are signs someone worked on it. The bearing seems to be pretty smooth. No rough spots.
