This was a super easy install, but I decided to show you all "how to" anyways!

Open to box containing the fun. (Notice my lil predator "Rhodey" likes the Diablo! haha)

Purdy ain't she? And not a bad thing to say on the box! haha

This is the port you plug the Predator into

Plug it in and it will automatically turn on. (Make sure your key is turned to the OFF position and everything else is off too)

And away we go...

The Diablo Predator stores your stock tuning

Had a lil time to visit JG from my iPhone4 via TapTalk! :p

Predator backed-up w stock tuning

As the tune is being installed the system automatically checks the sensors

Thanks!! :D

All good, no warning lights or trouble codes at all! :)

After a 10 mile cruise here is my assessment: I definitely noticed a big gain. I only did the 91 Octane tune, adjusted the tire size, adjusted tire PSI sensors and made the throttle a lil more sensitive for now! I would love to know what other tunes you guys who have Predators have used as well...?

All-in-all, It's a great performance upgrade. I definitely recommend it!! I will check in after a month to give an updated report and see if I get any MPGs out of it! Thanks for reading, and have fun!

Coop!

If you can, get a CMR tune (custom tune) for your Jeep. It is leaps and bounds better than the canned tunes that come preloaded onto the Predator. I have my SRT tuned by Johan at Diablosport. Great guy to deal with and his tunes are affordable for everyone!

Nice write up!
Just thought I might add my own experience with the DSP.
If after you load the tune and go to drive off, you suddenly realize that all is not well with your GC (mine had no acceleration and wouldn't shift correctly), don't panic, you didn't kill it! Just disconnect the battery for a few mintues, then re-connect and you should be good to go.

It's not bad, overall improvement than stock. But with the help of a CMR, it's that much better! :)

great write up.. I need some help.. where do you find your tune on jeep. I have an 08 hemi jgc.. I just put in the K&N air intake , flow 50 ,, some small details .. this is the big one for me the tunes , not that good with this stuff,, tunner just came in last week and been sitting around ,, this help out a lot ,, anyother advise out there, I new so take it easy.. once againg great write up for the new guys
Thanks maing!!

What are you trying to do with the tune?! What Octane gas do you use regularly... All this things have an impact on your tune. Figure out what you wanna do with it, and that will help steer you in the direction you want.

I dont have anything above 91 oct here in CA so I stay with that. I also have MDS off cuz my Jeep seems to prefer it! I drive a lot and I drive fast. I off road A LOT and the tuner helps with all of it!! I love it and it's one of the best mods you can do.... IMO! :D

I would also like an update on your gas mileage. I will be the first to admit I have a heavy foot, so I average around 14mpg around town and have about a 100-mile round trip to work every day, so obviously I don't want my MPGs to go down even more. However, I am not happy with the way this thing shifts and launches from the factory.

Ok I say the predator does an amazing job alone on MPGs (depends on the weight of your foot lol), throttle response and so much more! BUT if you want true performance, best MPGs and more, get the CMR tune offered by Johan.

My AVG MPGs are anywhere from 11 - 18 (high tops) city, and 20 to 22 even freeway. Of course the highest MPGs are associated w "light footed" driving. I too have a heavy foot and w all my mods it's hard to drive like a grandma!

Just my 2 cents and I feel the predator + CMR = happy fun Jeep times!

PS I change my fluids religiously and I keep her super well maintained... :)

To add for MPG: with my setup (tires and 91tune with 91oct) I'm averaging around 13-14 overall. I never cruise hwy. I like the lead in my foot

LOL totally! I like my Hemi and like to utilize it!
i alway put in 93 so ,looking to have a smother shift and increase horsepower.,, i drive fast as well,, cant off road in nj ,, you can buts it an 1hr away from me// whats the mds stand for ,, im new so ill have to ask.. im just like every guy with a new toy. looking fro a little more speed and power , i dont want to kill the gas . im also looken for new tires for the 245 65 18 ,, any in mind,, something all seansons. winter is coming soon for me..
Ok here's my input:

Def get the predator cuz you have the 93 oct tune option! Get a CMR too and it'll be that much better! You'll get way better shifts, and a ton of more power (CMR opens up the sleeping monster!)

MDS only comes on the 5.7L Hemi. It stands for Multiple Displacement System Check out this link http://www.jeep.com/mds/

Tires are an open book of info and opinions... I am currently running 255/70/17 Firestone Destination A/Ts and I LOVE THEM!!! They're an amazing set of tires for everything!! Literally everything, minus thick heavy mud of course! I think the next time around I am going to a 265/70/17 Mud terrain of some brand. Possible BFGoodrich Muds. They are WAY pricey but worth it. The Firestones only ran me $550 out the door! (local friends shop)

Hopefully this helps you out a lil more!

So if you get a custom tune from Johan you have to use 93 oct for it to work?

#27 ·
I got only 87 89 93 octane in ga. So I can only use the 87 or 93 tune. Next can I use 89 octane with 91 tune ? Would a custom for my jeep be set up to us 89 octane ?

#29 ·
No, the opposite. You can use 91 in a 89 oct tune, but I wouldn't recommend it. Same gas, same tune. 89 / 89

Yes, the custom tune WILL be build on whatever oct you tell him!
Thanks, so I guess for now until I get a custom tune I will run the 93 perf tune with 93 octane once my predator comes in this week. One more question I see in the install pictures at the end it has reboot on the screen and unplug the predator, is it rebooting?

whats up greg ,, I took a-lot of stuff u did on your sight and did the same to mine ,, I had a problem down-loading everything to my comp, from diablo,, i have windows vista sucks, I'm i right about the tunes , 91 tune , 93 gas. or can I do 93 tune an 93 gas , till johans send me my stuff.

Nice!!! Check this link to help you with your downloading and uploading
https://www.diablosport.com/index.php?module=htmlpages&func=display&pid=187

From what I understand, you want to keep the octane number the same as the tune you are running. I am running the 91 tune and I get 91 gas only. If you change the octane it won't perform the way it should.

The octane rating of gasoline is a measure of its resistance to "knocking". Knocking is the result of the air/fuel mixture in a cylinder burning before the spark plug fires (pre-ignition) or of the mixture burning too rapidly or unevenly (detonation). The octane rating is a measure of how much heat is required to get the fuel to burn.

I got to run 93 octane has GA does not have 91 octane, Until I get a CMR. I wish diablosport had a 89tune they are testing and building predators in Fla and they got 87,89,93 there. Oh Well custom tune

#38 ·
so i instaled the 93 tune and fill it up with 93 ,, little difference ,, have really got on it yet ,, all my stuff saved on the tuner now i have to figure it out to send to johnas, i look at what you sent me ,, I just wanted to say ,, you did a great job walking me threw this man,, thank you , this thread was great..

i did u plug the battery after i did this ,, have had no issues ,, wanted to be safe , thank again

#40 ·
Great,
I get my tuner this saturday in the mail. So you felt little with the 93 tune? Could you report back when you get on it a bit. I will have to do the 93 tune because no 91 octane.
