I couldn't get mine to function correctly with the 6-ohm resistors - I had to use 3-ohm ones. However, that was with my old V-LED's bulbs. I dunno if the AL bulbs will work with 6-ohm resistors or not.

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

i found this on VLED'S website so it should work?
Load Resistor Kits:
6 Ohm, 50 Watt resistors can be connected across the turn signal wire to simulate the load of a regular filament bulb (2 Amp load). This will solve LED related turn signal problems such as hyper flashing, no flashing or burnt out bulb indications. One resistor is required for each turn signal bulb. Kit includes two resistors and 4 gel filled moisture resistant splice taps

Yes, that is all well and good, but us Jeep guys who have actually done this mod can tell you unequivocally that 6-ohm resistors will NOT work. It will solve the hyper-flashing issue, but the color-changing stuff will act all weird. The 3-ohm resistors fix both the hyper-flashing AND the color-changing misbehavior.

Like I said before, this is all in reference to the V-LED's bulbs. I recommend the autolumination bulbs myself. All I did for those was to unplug my V-LED's bulbs and plug in my autolumination bulbs. They might work just fine with 6-ohm resistors but I already have 3-ohm resistors installed and it's working fine. Why fix what isn't broken???

Right, that was in reference to ME, not you. Here's how my whole situation progressed from start to where I am now:

V-LED's Bulb = hyper-flash and color-change misbehavior
V-LED's Bulb + 6-ohm resistor = color-change misbehavior (fixed hyper-flash)
V-LED's Bulb + 3-ohm resistor = WORKED PERFECT (had these for over 10 months)

*****SWITCHED TO AUTOLUMINATION BULBS*****

AL Bulbs + 3-ohm resistor = WORKED PERFECT

So you see, what I am saying is that when I tried the AL bulbs, I ALREADY had 3-ohm resistors installed and the bulb worked fine, so I didn't mess with (hence the "why fix what isn't broke" quip). I am also saying that the AL bulbs MIGHT (key word) work fine using 6-ohm resistors, but I don't know this because I never tried it.

What I can tell you from personal experience is that the V-LED's bulbs will absolutely NOT work as advertised with 6-ohm resistors. Therefore, my recommendation is to not waste the time/effort/money on buying 6-ohm resistors to try something that MIGHT not work when you could just buy the 3-ohm resistors and KNOW that it WILL work.

I'm not trying to sell you something here man - I'm trying to help you to avoid the headache I went through.

I really hope your 6 ohm resistors do work for you, but like I have posted many times previously along with other people I finally got my dual LED's working "properly" with a 1.2 ohm 50 watt resistor. So my point is, no one can say for sure what resistors your vehicle will need for those LED's. If it were me, I would try the 6 ohm, and if they do not work properly then try either 3 ohm or 1.2-1.5 ohm. Do NOT believe what VLeds has written down on there website, I wrote them many times asking for help getting my duals to work and got zero help from them. I bought the 3 ohm resistors from them, and now they are sitting in a drawer useless because they didnt work. I even told VLeds that Jeepgarage would want them as a vendor on the site, and they finally got back to me saying they were too busy. I would never buy from them ever again.

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

I ended up finding someone selling used resistors on ebay, they were like 5 for 10 bucks shipped. I bought a bunch of different ones to mess around with, now I have a box full. And just because they are used, they work great.

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

I went with the AMBER/WHITE 60 LED option from autolumination that Lips suggested.

http://jeepgarage.org/showpost.php?p...1&postcount=81

I used a 3 ohm resistor:

i took some vids IDK WTF but I got like 320 x 240 and even thats fuzzy LOL out of my HD camera I owe you some vid of the switchbacks switchingback.

LOL, "switchbacks switchingback". Love the wording...

As always, excellent job Rob. Good to see that there are plenty of people on this forum that take their wiring serious (you did scrape the paint on your ground wire, right?). Can't wait to see the vid, but if your bulbs look anything like mine, I'm sure they are SICK!
