Won't help. The AL bulbs are polarity independent, so reversing them won't do anything. Two 3-ohm resistors in parallel will give you a 1.5-ohm load, but that didn't help me. I tried 1.5-, 3- and 6-ohm resistors with no joy. Switched to V-LED's bulbs and 6-ohm resistors worked.

You don't get the strobe effect with the parking lights off? Prove it! VID-E-O! VID-E-O!

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

I do get it but I dont see it as a problem LOL

i ran them with 3 ohm and all worked except twhen i hit blink, no other lights oin, i get a flick of white foirst, but all other funstions work perfectly.

i then swapped to a 1.5 ohm to try to remove the strobe but got the same. so kept 1.5. but they work........... with a little white strobe forst LOLOLOLOL

Rob:

I agree that it isn't a problem. I ran them this way for several months. As mentioned, the last straw was the nasty glow they were casting in my otherwise diamond white front end.

I still have the AL bulbs, maybe one of these days that I am bored I'll try messing with them again. I can't remember if I ever checked for the amber glow with the 1.5-ohm setup installed. The 6-ohm setup didn't change it at all, good or bad.

One last thing Rob, think about the current draw your front turn signals are pulling with 1.5-ohm resistors, man! You are pulling more than an HID kit! Hell, you've completely gone the other way on the whole "less current draw" advantage that LED's typically have, LOL!

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

ok...this just in: i turned each bulb 180, nothing. Then i swapped the left right bulbs..i have isolated the problem to the bulb itself...in the off position... one bulb strobes a/w while turnsignal is on. the other bulb just flashes orange?again when parking lights are on everything works fine?

Re: How To: Install VLEDs Dual Color Turn Signals

I have a 1.5ohm and mine work perfect! I had an issue but it was my own fault. I just electrical taped the wire to resistor and it came loose a little so it wasn't getting much contact and I was getting hyperblink on one side and it stayed on the amber. I checked the connection and presto!!! Knock on wood but all good since then....

Yes, and if 6-ohms works, you should use that. More resistance equals less current flow. The resistor's purpose in life is to fool the computer by simulating a load similar to that of an incandescent bulb. It does this by converting electrical energy into thermal energy (heat). This is a completely useless process (aside from fooling the computer).

Less resistance equals less wasted energy (in the form of heat).

Do I need to give a short primer on Ohm's Law, Rob?

Could be the contact that feeds the parking light circuit. I forget - what does the offending bulb do when you have JUST the parking lights on?
