Re: How to open up OEM HID headlight housings to paint the bezels

I'd have to do some measuring to make my own tabs. It came with none of the broken tabs. Looks like whoever just ripped of off at the junk yard creating more work for me. They won't be perfect but should work. If not I'll rig them up on an aftermarket housing. Should be pretty easy.

Okay, how bad am I screwed. I went to remove xenon bulb. when attempting to remove all the bulbs, the hid gave me trouble. I finally got it out, the brown plastic thing that it connects to snap off. It's not completely off, connections look secure, it's just broken of the base.

I would include pics but don't know how to load directly from my phone. Anyone knows if need fixed or how to fix it please post. I will upload pictures when I get home tonight, thanks.

Mike

It's hard to make out the pics but can the plastic be superglued?

I forget what the leveling motor looks like, got a picture?

Re: How to open up OEM HID headlight housings to paint the bezels

pretty sure you can buy another igniter wire and reconnect the tip. (last resort i would guess)

im sure this is the wire that comes from the ballast to the D1S connection/bulb. if you can find justthe wire for sale somewhere it could help you out. or buy a busted HID lamp (cheap one if one for auction) and use it for parts.

id also find out what exactly consist of the connection and find other companies who used the same thing.

His wire might be good still, everything else looks trashed.

I bid on that just incase I need spare parts. But I still cannot remove the leveling sensor.

Also I did get the lens off. Is it supposed to look like an angry beaver attacked it.

Lastly, 220 did nothing had to take it to 260 at 15 minute increments. Then it still took 4 reheats.

here are pics of the level sensor:

here are the angry beaver photos:

Re: How to open up OEM HID headlight housings to paint the bezels

I havnt had much time to spend on mine since last week.. Today I got one finished up and its setting up now with lens reattached.. The other is ready but I only have enough clamps to do one at a time...

Instead of plastic welding new tabs i made my own out of 14ga aluminum spent some time with the body hammer getting them to bend perfectly.. Used some small screws and lock washers and locktite so assure they wont budge..

Hopefully this one will set up by end of the night and I can get the other one assembled and it can set up over night.

Here is a quick mock up picture I took I had to do a mock up to get some motivation to get these finished lol.
