How to use USB in center console

I just bought a 2006 WK and it has the stock RAQ radio. In the center console it has a usb cable that a previous owner must have routed in. I cannot get my iPhone or iPod to work on it. I plug it in and nothing happens, not even charging. So I am wondering how to use it. Do I have to set it in a particular station or how can I know if the cable is actually plugged in into the radio without taking the radio out?

P.S
I am using a standard iPhone charging cable to plug it into the USB input

Re: How to use USB in center console

There must have been an aftermarket radio in there before you purchased it.

Is there any way to make this cable work with the current radio

You could get one of the isimple things like I got. I did a little write up here

You don't have to build the dock, just my preference.

Re: How to use USB in center console

If your really unsure, take a ride to your local car audio shop and have them take a peek. They'll tell you exactly whats going on.

Plus they can install the iSimple if needed im sure. I have one and i have to flip a small switch and tune to 87.9 FM
