Re: Installed: Jet 180 T-Stat

I also didn't have to change fan settings, I dont think that is even an option... I NEVER had any issues...

The t-stat just lets the coolant flow at a lower temp... That doesn't mean that its going to take longer for your car to heat up.. It will heat up just the same, but when it gets to 180, it will start flowing.

When I installed mine, it was a set it and forget it type thing. I NEVER noticed that my car was any slower to warm up.. Never felt the fan go crazy, and Although Im not in canada, Chicago gets bitter cold too

Re: Installed: Jet 180 T-Stat

The 5.7 has a hydraulic fan so there are no fan settings to worry about.

What's the importance of having the air valve located at the top. I just completed mine and can't remember if mine was at the top or bottom!

2 cons:

1.) If you dont allow for a proper warm up during the winter, a CEL will trip.
2.) Gas mileage may suffer a hair.
can someone explain this to me please? how would my gas mileage suffer?

ive got a 05' 4.7 in a pretty hot-ar** country. city driving is prettymuch stop & go. i was all set to do this untill i came across this statement

Re: Installed: Jet 180 T-Stat

^Because a 180 tstat forces the computer to feed more fuel because it tricks it into thinking the vehicle is running at 180 degrees.

Its not going to suffer much. Like I said, a hair.
