Re: Matt's DIY CAI (5.7l HEMI)

Awesome install. I just saw this thread for the first time. I like it, clean looking and looks superior to any CAI sold on the market. I wouldnt worry about the pvc joints, that glue bonds pvc permenantly so should have no air leakage ever. +rep Matt.

Thanks Timmy!! From one DIY-er to another!

For me it came down to spend $300+ on a CAI or spend around $100 and give myself a fun project to do whie being just as effective (possible better) than a boxed set. Plus, I really wanted to use an Amosil dry filter, so that made the decision a little easier.

Re: Matt's DIY CAI (5.7l HEMI)

The K&N CAI was one of the first mods to my WK I did last year, but knowing what I know now I would never of wasted the over $300 for it and made my own like you did. Live and learn, and I hope people learn from your great build that it can be done ALOT cheaper building it yourself.

Yeah, true that man. I mean something like the K&N is fine for those who are looking for convenience, but I'm like you always looking to learn and always looking for a project, so this was great!

Another member here (mzh29) gave me the idea. He has a thread also. I did some searching online and found that PVC (and the glue) will be fine for under hood temps and will not emit any sort of chemical when in heat situations.

Thanks Nick!

There's also another thread linked in the first post of this thread - he has a good thread as well - especially his v2 intake.
