Re: REC to RER conversion

Yes the mygigi was nav but that jeep is gone and I sold the radio. The other jeep has the kenwood and after having both I would recommend the kenwood. More options and aminities.

Re: REC to RER conversion

The only problem with adding an aftermarket nav/headunit is that you can't adjust the volume side to side or front to back since everything is controlled by the CAN bus.

Re: REC to RER conversion

I guess I stand corrected then, I was under the assumption based on my research that when you installed an aftermarket HU you lost that ability. What brand and model is yours? Thanks.

Re: REC to RER conversion

I was thinking about doing this as well. Is there a way to make the factory UConnect work in the mirror or do I need a mic?

Re: REC to RER conversion

I installed a Mygig RER in my 05 WK. Almost all the parts were bought off Ebay. I got the RER, GPS antenna, bezel adapter and Lock pick all off Ebay. I bought the REC bezel from Jeep to replace the standard radio bezel. Install is a breeze, just plug and play. Just one note. You'll have to trim off the locating pins on the RER in order for it to mount. Also, it will take a little bit for the RER to recalibrate where it is so don't be concerned if it seems unresponsive when you first power it up. The install looks factory.
My costs
RER-$575.00
Lock Pick-$205.00
GPS Antenna-$10.00
Bezel Adapter-$45.00
REC Bezel-$120.00...from Jeep

Future plans:
Uconnect mirror w/Smartbeam
