REC to RER conversion

Hi Y'all! Has anyone done a REC to RER conversion? If so, aside from having the RER unit, what does it take to "git 'er done"? Thanks a bunch in advance for your time and knowledge.

PS- I am thinking about doing this on my 2007 JGC if it is even possible... considering the bezel and wiring harness are different.

Re: REC to RER conversion

1, http://www.coastaletech.com/MYGIG_ADAPTER.htm
2. something to fill the void between rec and rer. rec is custom size bigger than DD. rer is DD. maybe the metra d-din will work, not sure.

and its a very specific rer that works, the low speed one.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the info. I will order the lockpick and go from there... low speed huh? Glad I didn't buy the mygig yet. Have a good one.

Re: REC to RER conversion

alot of people have done this and they have used the bezel from the regular radio and cut it to make it larger.

What version is on it?

Just to clarify....

The issue is the clock will not work on the MYGIG in cars older than 08 unless it has a special Rev of Software.

I installed a MYGIG in my Charger SRT-8 back in Dec of 08 and the clock was stuck on 12:00.

You will need 2.067 of the software for the clock to work.

Re: REC to RER conversion

Also I saw on ebay yesterday that someone on there sells an adapter for the mygig to fit into an REC housing. They are like $30 or so.
