I think it pops out no screws. That tool u can buy at auto zone it a flat wedge basically that pops out your console without damage. On my 2006 the light are out as well on the right side of it

Then again I'm thinking there screws hidden when you take out the radio.

Re: removing heat/ac benzel

remove the chrome ring around your shifter
then pull up the shifter bezel from the front
now remove your radio bezel
then you can grab the hvac bezel and it will pop forward.
remove the harnesses and then you can unscrew the parts that you need from the back

Re: removing heat/ac benzel

I'm seeing conflicting info on this site as well as others as to whether the climate control, info center bar, and lower heat warmer/traction control lower bar light bulbs on my '06 Grand Cherokee Laredo are serviceable or not.

In preparation I purchased a pack of ten (10) PC-74 bulbs, I need to know whether I bought the correct bulbs. I have no problem replacing the bulbs in the future if they burn out it's just that I hate working with a soldering iron close to circuitry where a small glob of solder can damage the electronics should I go the LED route. In addition I don't want to remove the climate control assembly only to find I purchased the wrong bulbs and since I tend to do my work late in the day or on weekends not all the auto parts stores are open as it was I had to have my local store order the PC-74 bulbs since they only had two in stock

The PC-74 bulbs I bought already have the plastic bases on the bottom.

As for referencing the shop manual I downloaded online for the correct bulb size/number that's not going to work since the bulb info I need isn't included in the light bulb reference chart, it's an oversight which the editor should've never allowed to occur.

Yes they are replacable and yes they will burn out again within a year. Send them to diboblo to have him replace them leds and never have to do it again

Thank you for the info that the bulbs can be replaced. What concerns me about sending the assembly out is the down-time, "Diboblo" is in California and I'm in N.J. It's not like I can be without my ride for a week or two, I'll need the defroster and heat if it rains. I've sold Fender guitars using Ebay shipping to California and even with USPS "Priority Mail" it's a week until the buyer takes delivery plus there's the chance that the package might be lost or sustain damage (it's NOT uncommon) resulting in my having to buy a new assembly at significant expense. Forget using FedEx or UPS they're both worse where damage or loss is concerned than USPS.

As for "spam" I've counted at least five (5) separate threads concerning this one repair at this site and not one mentions the bulb size, I got the PC-74 number off another site but I'm still not sure it's the correct bulb.

Damn I should have never sold the '68 Scout, not my '85 Toyota 4Runner, nor '87 Nissan 4x4 pickup, '79 Ford Bronco or '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee were as simple and reliable as that "Deliverance" (Burt Reynolds) beast. Hell not even the shop trucks including the '79 Jeep J-10 or '87 Ford F-350 were as capable in the snow as that little four cylinder marvel.

You will have to see if Bob has spare parts that he can ship to you.
