SRT-8 Driveline swap

I am searching now for some time and finding no real solid data so being new here to post I would like to say you all seem to have a really nice place.

Now on to the questions. I currently have a 05 WK 5.7L Limited. And I would like to run the Trans/Transfer from the SRT. I don't have a reason or would like to use the Low range or 50/50 split the jeep uses. What would I need to swap if at all possible to the NAG1 and NV146?

I see that it would possibly most of the drive line itself IE intermediate shafts and flanges possibly, I can't really tell without another jeep right next to me. Shifter assembly and the controller to the Transmission itself. I would love to hear from you all and see what I could make of this! Have a nice day!

Re: SRT-8 Driveline swap

While the parts swap is easily possible, the sticking point will be (at a minimum) the the PCM/TCM. On your 05 with the 545RFE transmission, the PCM/TCM is combined in one unit. The NAG1 has a TCM that is separate from the PCM and is located on the driver's side, under the dash. This would mean you'd also need the SRT powertrain wiring harness. IMO, doing this kind of swap is both a waste of time and money, and you'll more than likely encounter problems with getting everything to play well together. If you had a wrecked SRT laying around, that may be a different story. I think you'd be better off in the long run by selling your 05 and picking up an 06 or later SRT. Then you'd have the best of everything.

Re: SRT-8 Driveline swap

Didn't the WK with the 5.7 have an option for the Nag1?

Re: SRT-8 Driveline swap

There was some that came factory with them like the 3.7 did. I can't remember for the life of me. What about the transfer case?

Re: SRT-8 Driveline swap

Any ideas?

The reason I ask is because I would like to swap to the Dana 44 rear and swap the transfer for the adaptive 4x4. If I would be able to get that instead of the constant 4x4 it would help.
