Towing question with U-Haul

Hey there fellas,
I have a 05 GC Limited QD2 with the towing package and im trying to rent a U-Haul trailer to tow my other car that weights 3400lbs. U-Haul is telling me that it exceeds my jeeps towing capabilities. Are they wrong? If so, how would I go about renting a trailer? BTW im towing from LA to Dallas TX.
It'll be my gf, 2 dogs and myself in the GC.

That should only exceed the towing capacity of the 3.7. The hemi is rated to around 7,200 and the 4.7 is something like 6,500. I would first try the online uhaul site - they have web based system that will tell you whether it is above the weight limit or not. Just make sure you choose the right engine. Sometimes uhaul has weird policies in place as a result of ambitious litigation (like not letting ford explorers tow their weight limit due to the firestone tire issues they had in the past) but I haven't heard of any for the wk.

Re: Towing question with U-Haul

Thanks, but i've been to this site many times already. Doesn't really help with U-Haul though.

Re: Towing question with U-Haul

I tried multiple times already. I even went in person to show them the owners manual of how much I can tow and he literally started laughing at me!!
It doesn't let me select a engine type on the U-Haul site. It might have those same policies for the GC Hemi as well or might not have the correct info on their website. I'll try to call corporate office sometime next week and see what happens

Re: Towing question with U-Haul

U haul is a pain in the ass. I have rented car dollies several times and always tell them I'm hauling a little car. Their trailers are heavy, that plus car, fuel and family will be a load. Is dolly an option?
