After installing my lift I'm getting a pretty awful clunk from the rear end when first accelerating and over bumps. It existed before the lift but got substantially worse after. I was wondering if anyone has ever had to replace the U joint on their WK and if so, how it went. My manual says you may want to take it to a shop for U joint replacement which I thought was weird....the manual rarely says that. I'm kind of to the point where I'm just throwing parts at it until the noise goes away.

Re: Universal Joint?

I remember from my youth being told that u-joints rarely break...though different models have different areas of difficulties.

...and some drivers...for example, one relative seems to break the u-joint on about anything he drives. His vehicles never really last very long.

Re: Universal Joint?

wk ujoints are not serviceable the driveshaft has them (for lack of a better term) "crimped" in. you have to change the shaft unless you can find a driveshaft shop that will rebuild it.
