Winter Tires

Hello all. First post. Looks like a great site. Just picked up a 2012 Limited with the 3.6L. Interested what others have done in terms of winter wheel/tire packages. 18" wheels seem to be hard to find at a reasonable price. Anyone used 17" for the winter wheel with taller tires? Also, what is the impact of installing wheels without a tire pressure sensor? Thanks in advance.
David

Re: Winter Tires

without TPMS you will have a solid annoying light on your dash and a noise every once and a while. just buy an extra set of TPMS and have them installed

Re: Winter Tires

I ordered a setup (blizzaks and Sport Edition wheels) from Tirerack with TPMS sensors installed, I think total with tax was around $1,400-1,500. Sport Edition appears to be a Tire Rack specific brand, that said they are a lot nicer than I expected for the price.

Re: Winter Tires

I use Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 4x4 (discontinued tire) on my stock 17s for winter. They were free take offs from a Cadillac SRX so they are staggered width. 235/65/17 front 255/60/17 rear. Diameters are exactly the same so there is no damage to anything. I really wish i could get 2 more 255/60s cause that size looks bad ass on stock but since they are discontinued i can do that. I would need to buy the Blizzak DMV1 tire that replaced it.

I did not have sensors for a year because they were leaking/corroded and i did not have $$ for new ones so i just had regular stems and the light comes on and dings when the car is started but thats it. I now have all new sensors and i plan to buy some stock 18s for summer use and get some nice summer all terrain tires and new sensors for those.

I also have studded Firestone winterforce tires on my wifes FWD dodge stratus and its like a snowmobile in the storms since i put them on. If the car was nicer/newer we'd get a set of summer wheels but we only need it for a year longer until we are being given her fathers CRD liberty. The liberty will get studded Firestone Winterforce UV tires and a set of used stock KJ wheels for winter and some nicer tires for the OEM wheels for summer.

DL Thunder please post pics.

Re: Winter Tires

This is actually Red G8R's ride, but the wheels and tires are the exact same as i have on my truck. My truck is just Silver instead of white.
