02 liberty sport problems, HELP!

alright so i got the wonderful check engine light on, speedo dont work, mileage dont work and when clutch is engaged it likes to die. i had it plugged in at autozone to see why it was throwing a code. i was told that the speed sensor could be bad or i have a bad connection or ground wire somewhere. im almost positive that the speed sensor is bad since my speedo obviously doesnt work but would a bad speed sensor cause it to die everytime the clutch is engaged? after it dies i can start it right back up and it runs and idles fine until i have to stop or engage the clutch. im not gonna lie im pretty lost. just wandering if any one else has had this problem and know whats goin on with it before i take it somewhere and get raped on price. any help would be amazing

Re: 02 liberty sport problems, HELP!

no i forgot to grab the paper with it all printed out.
it said the causes could be from,

1. Bad vehicle speed sensor
2. Bad connection or bad ground wire.

i have the speed sensor on order since no one had it in stock. should be in late today so hopefully thats the problem. if not im prolly going to take to local jeep dealer since it needs to be fixed and running properly asap.

Re: 02 liberty sport problems, HELP!

found the problem. ebrake cable rubbed through one of the wires. cut the wire and soldered on an extension wire to both wires and reinserted into plug in and works as it should. having a speedo and car that doesnt die again is aweome!

Re: 02 liberty sport problems, HELP!

what about that grinding sound thom? describe that mess. it seems to run fine but in 2x4 and 4x4 sounds like the gears are slipping and grinding. its just horrible.
