04 Liberty running issues after warm

Hey all:

Got a buddy who is experiencing some issues with his 04.

From what he has told me: when cold, it runs OK. After it warms up, the engine will not go over 2000 RPM. Engine will run, drive OK - but it will not go beyond the 2000 RPM.

He has over 200k on the rig, and is in very good shape. Pretty well maintained.

Sounds to me like an O2 sensor; or an ingnition sensor gone haywire. Anyone have an experience like this on the 3.7L?

I will get more details - as I believe that he pulled the code from the OBD system, but I do not think that the system leaves the light on constantly.
