2002 liberty Transmission Issue

I am having a problem where sometimes i will start my jeep and get up to highway speed and realize its at higher rpms than usual. Like its not shifting into OD..the check engine light also comes on and displays p0700. Once i notice i pull over restart my vehicle and it drives normal.

Re: 2002 liberty Transmission Issue

Welcome to the garage.
Which engine/transmission it has? The P0700 code only tells that the transmission controller has stored one or more transmission faults. It will need to be scanned to know which code(s) you have.

Re: 2002 liberty Transmission Issue

When my information is right, your jeep should have the 45RFE transmission. From 2003 and on it will have the 42RLE.
Either way, I would start removing the large connector on the transmission. On the 45RFE its on the left side. Check for any moisture or corroded pins. If ok, then most probably the pressure switch 2C inside the TRS/solenoid block is faulty (P0846 code)
The P0884 means an interruption of the power to the TCM. This could be caused by the limp mode. The TCM relay will remove the power to the TCM as soon as a situation occurs which could harm the transmission. It will go into limp mode and the transmission will be fixed into third gear, until the ignition is switched off and on again.

Re: 2002 liberty Transmission Issue

There are several pressure switches in the TRS/solenoid block, which give a feedback to the TCM. In that way the TCM knows that the solenoids are working when commanded. If a pressure signal is not present at the time it should, the TCM will set a fault code as you had. If the pressure switch is really faulty, it would always give this fault. Due to the intermittent character, I would first suspect a bad electrical contact. For that reason its a good start to remove the large connector on the transmission (which connects directly to the solenoid block) and use some electrical contact cleaner on both sides (connector and receptacle). You could do the same for the connectors on the PCM/TCM. If the fault comes back, then the problem is most probably the TRS/solenoid block, but could also be wiring or the TCM.
