Have a P1261 code coming up on dash with check engine light. Vehicle seems to be operating properly. Does anyone know what this code means and what may need to be done?

Glow plug(s).

I do dearly miss my KJ CRD!

It was my favorite Jeep.

My KK comes in a very close 2nd though. If I could buy another one NEW, I'd have one.

A respectful addon:
Glow plug #1 to be exact
If you are still using ceramics these are unavailable as new steel tip glow plugs replace them and all four are needed as well as the controller. Moparpartsamerica has them and I would first call Corey at ID parts as he he carrying lots of KJ CRD engine parts now and may have these....
IDParts.com - Shop TDI Parts, VW Diesel Parts, Diesel Engine Parts, Volkswagen Performance & Aftermarket Parts, Lubricants, Fluids, Additives at great prices!

The 2.8L I4 VM Motori is an amazing engine --- just gotta keep an eye on it...

I have 149M on my 05 CRD and just got this code a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem as if anything is wrong as I have no problem starting even in this cold Wisconsin weather ...but I've read that the glow plugs can go bad. I went to my dealer last week and they advised that I "keep driving" as long as I'm having no issues...but I hate doing that. They were concerned with stripping the threads if they attempted to change them out. My independent shop told me that wasn't an issue as they could always "repair" the threads. Any advice as to whether I should go through with replaces the glow plugs ...and will this solve the issue? Thanks
