Any KK owners with oil leaks?

So the KK has developed what appears to be a leak at the front crank seal. It weeps down near the oil filter "funnel" making it look like it's just a loose oil filter. Anyone had this issue and was it the crank seal in your experience?

Re: Any KK owners with oil leaks?

Heh.

The 3.7L isn't a leaker overall. In my case, each and every single time, it really was the oil filter being loose. Worst case was this past oil change where I was able to spin the filter by a single finger! I can't find a single dealership in my area that can perform an oil change properly on this Jeep. At all. I did go to a dealership in Alabama that performed a proper oil change without a single leak. I wish whatever tech did it, lived here.

Well, that's good to know. I'm not sure about this one. I've tightened the filter incrementally trying to get rid of the very slow drip, but haven't had much luck. I run a K&N oil filter in it that has a 1" hex nut welded on it for easy tightening. Loose oil filters are not an issue for me. I always wipe the mating surfaces down well before spinning on the new one, and I always lube the gasket with some oil.

Re: Any KK owners with oil leaks?

Well, I think the issue is resolved, at least for now. I did an oil change, cleaned the hell out of that plastic funnel thing after snugging down a new oil filter. So far, so good.
