frustrated new liberty owner

Hello. I am new here and look forward to learning about my recent Liberty purchase. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle which has 145000 miles on it. It is a 3.7 automatic fully loaded and until 2 days ago, I loved it. Let me start by saying I have worked on all types of cars and trucks for the past 50 years and I can usually fix whatever the problem is or know how to get it done. The Liberty CEL came on so I hooked up the obd2 scanner and had code p2302 and p2317, coil 1 and coil 6 problems. So, I replaced all 6 coils and spark plugs and cleared the codes. Upon restart, CEL immediatly came back on with same codes. Then checked wiring for continuity and found all good between coils and PCM. Is the PCM faulty or possibly need to be flashed? Thanks for reading and responding.

Hello. Thanks for responding! The engine is only firing on cylinders 2,3,4, & 5. The local shops want $85 or more to try to flash the PCM and I am told there is no other way to tell if the PCM is faulty. Seems very expensive to me; maybe I'm getting cheap in my dotage!

Re: frustrated new liberty owner

I was reading about 04, 05 and 09 models, where reprogramming the PCM would solve the problem you have: Check Engine Light with code P2302, P2305, P2308, P2311, P2314, P2317, and/orP2610 : Jeep Liberty Common Exhaust & Emissions Problems
It could be worth a try, because a new PCM will be a lot more expensive.
