Re: Is anybody loving their Liberty and why?

I've had my 03 Black Freedom Edition since new. It has 160k on the odometer now and still runs great. Normal maintenance, brakes, alternator at 150k, battery after 10 years.
My wife asks if I want to sell it and replace it and I always say no, I would rather spend $4 or $5k to replace the powertrain than $30k on a new car. This car has been the best snow vehicle ever. Turns on a dime. Low gear 4X4. A/C and Cruise control.
I bought my wife a '13 WK2 but I will keep my Liberty.

We just bought a WK2 last Wednesday and this weekend it died (its a 2014). We got a Liberty as a loaner. They are all over the place here on Long Island and I have always loved the look of them. We didn't consider one because of basically getting the same or better mileage with the bigger GC, and because of all the reviews that say its outdated, lacks refinement, you probably have talked about this all here before...

But I took it out tonight for a drive for the first time, and I just get it. Probably great in the snow, great visibility, engine has some go to it, I like how it feels on the road. Came in with a grin on my face and my wife says, "took the Liberty to the store?" I said yep. She said something about it but she instantly felt at home in it, just like we did when we test drove the WK2.

I have had a Wrangler for a year after being out of the Jeep brand for 25 years prior to that, and now I think I get it when people say you wouldn't understand... I'm starting to think none of the car mags do. They clearly don't understand why this type of vehicle is so appealing. Makes me sad for them. Lol.

I bought a new 2012 Liberty. It was the last year made, thank god ! I was happy when I bought it but I was even happier when I sold it ! If I buy another Jeep it will be a Wrangler.

Easy to maneuver but watch out for defects in the Windows mechNisms. They breakdown in every Liberty I've owned. Seem to have had that problem on the Cherokees too. Try the Liberty they are fun.

Re: Is anybody loving their Liberty and why?

I purchased one of the first batch to come off the line in 01, 02 model year, it was a KJ Sport. I loved that vehicle for 10 years. It would go anywhere, I never felt unsafe in it on/off road, in the snow. I traded that in for a '11 KK Limited which I liked until trading in on a '15 WK2. The '11 had noticeably more room than the '02. The 02 had more power ports than the '11 which irritated me. I mean in 2011 with as much technology as existed, who has a need for only one power port? Mine had no Nav, so I had to get an adaptor to plug both the GPS and a mobile phone charge in. Other than that, I really enjoyed driving that one too.

It's a shame the Liberty line had such a short run. With some advancements in technology and modification, I think they could have been great going forward. At this point I'm loving the WK2 but still think about the KJ with very fond memories.

My GF has an 08, a nice 4x4. It seems well made and has given her no probs at all. Too bad they phased them out.

I've had 2 KJs and one KK.

My KK isn't going anywhere. My favorite Jeep.

Re: Is anybody loving their Liberty and why?

Love my '03 Liberty Renegade! Put 154K on it, and I've driven it through 5 countries and 30 states. Only mod I made to it was changing out the radio every few years.

This is my last week with it though, trading up for a 75th Anniversary JKU. I'm excited about the new one, but still sad to see the old Libby go...

Re: Is anybody loving their Liberty and why?

I just traded my Commander for a Liberty and regret doing it. But Is there anyone who has installed a V8 in a 012 Liberty? I'm very interested in getting that done to mine!
