1995 Cherokee straight 6

Rough idle almost stalling out at times. Changed plugs and wires. When disconnected wire from plug 1,2,3 change engine idle. 4,5,6 no change in engine. Pull wire off distributor all are showing arc.

Re: 1995 Cherokee straight 6

Welcome to the garage.
Does the 95 already have separate O2 sensors for the 1-2-3 and 4-5-6 cylinders? If so, i would check if the sensor for the 4-5-6 cylinders. The voltage should change rapidly from 0.2-0.8V. If this seems to be ok, check the fuel trim figures (if possible). If the 2-1 sensor shows a negative number greater then 10, then the PCM is downtrimming the fuel injector puls too much and a lean misfire can occur.

Re: 1995 Cherokee straight 6

It does have 2. It was a rough idle almost stalling out and at times when driving down the road if I didn't put it in neutral and keep a steady flow of gas. Almost like a misfire in multiple plugs or an exhaust pipe pinched shut. I tore it down cleaned the intake and injectors. Replaced the plugs and wires. Button and cap. Even changed the exhaust manifold . Turns out to be a vacuum hose for climate control and 44 on the top back of the intake manifold.
