Fair trade in for 2001?

Hi all,
Went to look at a new 2 door rubicon in granite crystal thinking about trading in the Cherokee if they have me a decent deal. It has no rust super clean with only 71,000 miles, I figured lowball offer would be $3000. They came back with $1500!! Walked away from that "deal." What are thoughts on a trade in? Just keep the Cherokee?

A dealer typically wants to make much more money on your trade if they keep it to resell. You might find private lots willing to offer more, and if you can stand the hassle, cherry it up a bit and sell it privately--particularly if you are in any sort of jeep country.

Re: Fair trade in for 2001?

You need to get on, I think it's called, the internet ( I know you've found it in the past). They have this site called eBay and if your Cherokee is in great condition, and a 4X4 you could easily get $3000.

I wouldn't part with my '01 Limited for anything. If you can't find a buyer for more than $1501.. I'll buy it.

Sarcasm aside, good luck,
Al

I might go $1502. Try and sell it privately. The problem is the jeep is 13 years old. The most likely buyer is someone looking for an XJ. The dealer offering you $1500 will have it on the lot the next day wanting $4000 for it.
