I love junk yards.....I would have one if my neighborhood assoc. allowed it,......LOL.

seriously though...I do love junk yards....so cool. I helped support myself in college by pulling parts and selling them on ebay.

Their are lots of junk yards in my area but there are not any that allow you to pull your own parts plus most of them want to much for there junk parts any way.

Remember that you can get items at the junk yard you may not be presently looking for. I have gotten things off of an XJ simply because they were available and either no longer available through retail or I watch the forums and know they are hard to find by others. Nothing says you can't trade or sell.It also helps to have 4 XJ's in the family so you get things you might need down the road. The parts don't hurt anything sitting in the garage.

Old thread but what the heck.
For older vehicles like my XJ, bone yards are sometimes the only resource for parts.
Especially true for cabin trim or panel pieces.

For example my XJ is a 2 door.
The window regulator went out and no one i mean no one sells new XJ 2 door window regulators.
Found one from an on-line bone yard and its still working after a couple years and 15K miles later.
Also picked up a XJ cruise control servo from the local bone yard not to mention a couple OEM grab handles for my A-pillar grab handle fabrication/install.

And almost forgot an upper dash panel top for my XJ. The original was badly sun faded among other defects.

Decades ago just about all the bone yards in my area were pick 'n pull.

Today in my area? Nope!
Must be a liability insurance thing.
