The fuel door on my XJ doesn't like to stay shut. It's a pretty simple looking mechanism . I ordered and installed a new spring thinking that would fix the problem. It didn't, does someone have a tip or trick/experience with this? Thanks

Maybe a photo so I can see if I have something missing???

Thanks, the bracket in the door that the spring clips into was bent on mine. I turned it back 90 degrees to the door and it's all good now..

doors and trunk are open with remote key but fuel door won't unlock. also tried key button inside car to no avail. I'm stuck 40 miles form home on E (at least i'm at work where i could get to a computer).

i read my manual which states to "pull handle on right trim panel in luggage compartment" in event of electronic failure. i've looked everywhere in the damn trunk but see no handle with fuel symbol to pull (maybe it fell off??). read the fuse box but don't see a fuse specifically for fuel door.

any ideas would be very much appreciated ASAP!!!!
