Jeep 1998 Cherokee Driver Side Door Not locking

I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee.

And the problem is (I Noticed today 10-16-2013) that my driver side door will lock/unlock the front passenger doors and back doors (including trunk [back] door). If I go to my passenger side door, the passenger side door will lock/unlock
the front passenger doors and back doors (including trunk [back] door).
Now the problem is the driver side door lock will not unlock/lock the driver side door nor is this done by the passenger door. Instead I have to manually press the (manual button) to lock the door (on the driver side door).
Please note both door controls light up when the car is on.

I have had a lot of rain this summer also.

Is the wires frayed again between the door and car frame (the black rubber boot)? Or is it something else.
