Re: need some help Right front tire shakes

Not uncommon at all. Check everything well, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.
3" on an XJ should not be a problem. I am running 4.5" with 32" tires, sometimes when I hit bump it shakes a little but does not go into the death wobble. I would venture to say if you check everything over good you will find the culprit or culprits. Just out of curiosity what tire are you running and what size. Are they balanced well? I am running Maxxis Bighorns. I like them but they are terrible on the road, no doubt that is some of my shake.

i have the same problem....im runnin mastercraft mt 33-12.50-15s balanced well, but i have a bad control arm bracket....u might wanna check those also....if you dont have your axle in on that side it could cause a balance problem for the jeep itself...(mines missing lol)

just for searching purposes,

Common problems causing death wobbles on short lift XJs are Track bar bushings, steering ball joints, and oblonged wheel bearing units.

Make sure everything is tight and greased. Also, check the stabilizer to make sure it's not worn out. What kind of shocks are you running? Are the tires in balance?

Did you inspect the front wheel bearings and u-joints?

I had a u-joint and wheel bearing that looked ok but after closer inspection found both were worn out.

Jacked uped the front end and tested for horizontal and vertical movement of the tire(s). Both u-joints should also be good and tight, without any movement. The rest of the suspension should be good and tight, not easily twisted or moved from a stopped position.

When wheel and steering parts are damaged or worn, .... traveling at certain speeds and/or hitting a bump may cause violent shaking.
