Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

I am 99% sure the type of battery is group49 such as this

9AGM49

Still not cheap though (~$360).

If it helps financially, Alco have a battery with the same footprint and terminal orientation MS60038 which retails for around $280. It is Calcium chemistry but should work equally as well.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

Same issue for me. Dealer said the battery failed. Out of warranty 4 months. Car wouldn't start in driveway, when you pushed the start button the car would think it was started so you could take it out of park and the reversing camera would come on etc. had to insert key to turn it off. He told me that I'm up for a grand to replace with a genuine battery. So seeing I'm out of warranty id appreciate any suggestions for non genuine replacements.

Edit. 200sxr I agree with your find. Certainly a lot cheaper than $1,000. Thanks for finding it.

Also this one, reported* to have been installed by Jeep Assist upon warranty replacement:

SuperCharge GOLD PLUS MF88H European Automotive a bit cheaper at $245,

* www.ausjeepoffroad.com.au

To OP: I'm still suspicious of that part number, 80% sure it's wrong or outdated.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

Snakedoctor and nicjak, I think you're looking at different batteries, The 5.7 has a 700CCA whereas the diesel has, I think, a 800CCA. I believe the diesels now come with 900 CCA. The federal listed above is a 900CCA. Ordered today here Sat. It's 2mm longer than oem but otherwise exactly the same, I think!

Also Snakedoctor. Is the goldplus calcium battery an AGM Battery? Jeep techs in US told my dealer that must be an AGM (oem -yeah right!) replacement.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

I think it needs to be AGM due to its location inside a smallhatch inside the cabin. Fumes issues.

Definitely agree on the battery technology type, that's why I noted that it's what Jeep Assist installed and referenced the original post, I wouldn't be comfortable with it for my own car but I dare say it'd be fine.

Yep we are looking at different batteries.

Not sure about technology type of the battery needed because of location, I have had BMW's where they are in the cabin under seat or floor and are lead acid but sealed. However the charging profiles are different between AGM and plain lead acid batteries so you should replace with AGM so the car charges the right way for the battery type.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

Confirming the 9AGM49 Federal battery referenced above was fitted in my 2012 CRD and is working perfectly. Ended up being $415 delivered thanks to TJM Toowoomba plus labour to isolate problem and fit new battery.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

FYI -

Lead Acid BMW batteries that are under-seat have a built in vent hose that goes out to atmosphere.

Good to know it fits, do you know if the Federal battery has a attachment for the OEM battery vent?
