Sorry I can't help finding a replacement.

However, they come with a 3 year warranty - just had mine replaced.

Kev.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

I have a trickle charger on my " other car" - works a beaut. You do have to be careful - buy a quality one. Got mine at battery world. It's a 6 step unit and seems to do a great job of keeping the battery fresh.

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

Charging is not the problem i have a half a dozen of those in my workshop. Sourcing a possible replacement from my suppliers is becoming a problem. The battery is slowly on its way out losing voltage overnight.

Any updates on your battery problems, and replacement or otherwise?

Cheers
David

Re: 12v AGM oem battery replacement

Ouch. I knew it would be expensive, but that's BLOODY expensive.

The only thing we can hope is that as the WK2's age, more will need batteries, so they should, hopefully, become more mainstream and therefore more reasonably priced. We can only hope.

......And all the more reason to look after your battery, for example by keeping it on a smart charger when the car is not used for a while, contrary to what some have suggested.

Quote:
I wouldn't argue against that repeatedly over discharging a battery will shorten it's useable life, however, pragmatically - in the use case discussed, it's a non critical event and not even close to being worth the effort of sticking it on a charger unless you plan on leaving it for 2-3 months repeatedly.

The power draw of a functioning Jeep GC when turned off is actually quite low. (we load tested this a while ago, I don't have the figures handy).

It's an AGM battery which means it isn't going to fail from a single relatively deep discharge.

Many people have flattened these batteries completely and they still function fine when fully charged. Dealers weren't replacing batteries when dealing with the recent Jeep GC flat battery issue.

And most importantly, they are under warranty for 3 years anyway, I don't know about other people but there is zero chance i'm going to wait for a bettery to become unserviceable and leave me stranded somewhere before I replace it, I typically replace them at about 3-4 years regardless.
Let's just say I'll be doing everything possible to look after mine. And that I'll hopefully get a lot more than three years out of it.......
(Of course if I could get it to die at 2 years and 11 months that would be good

How are you going to know its dead before it dies?

Wait until your car can't start somewhere inconvenient?

Hope it won't start at home?

Never understood this "logic" personally, replace at a regular service interval (depends on battery/usage) and never have to deal with a dead battery in the middle of no where for the win!

If you are retired (therefore time / convenience aren't a concern) and or don't travel anywhere remote I can see why you'd not be concerned if you ever went flat.

I've never had a flat battery, but I've seen plenty of others stuck that did..
