I think you'll find that they are a Passenger rated carcass Fireball. Again, not everyone wants LT... depends on usage.

It's interesting how little data there is on the Australian website about them!

Cheers,
Steve

Interesting, on the back of the wheel it is stamped BBS RD487 Made in Germany.

Re: 18" Wheels and AT Tyres

anybody got a full link to this test from 4wd action ?

Yokohama Tyres | Landcruiser, Prado and Patrol 4x4 All Terrain Tyres

conveniently the yoko site left out the other 2 tests: balancing and tyre noise which gave pirelli the win

http://www.actiontyres.com.au/latest...zine-tyre-test

however i have to say i would rather more sand ability and better stopping distance in the yokies than pirelli

No worries BennO.

Pity the STMaxx is still not available in a size that'd fit under the guards... I'd have loved to try them out. Has anyone got an update? I was told probably around March / April back in November, but we know what bollocks product ETAs can be!

Cheers,
Steve

Wow... I just noticed the stopping distance score

Was that quantified into distances ???? I wonder how "loaded" these scores are?

Gotta love tyre comparison and debate. About the only thing you can be sure of is that they're black and round.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 18" Wheels and AT Tyres

Yes, that would be enough to put me off, but there has been lots of discussion about this review, and some of results, another was the noise test. The scores appear to be backwards.

Here were some comments on the stopping distance:

Quote:
To highlight my concern with the result, in 100km/h dry bitumen braking test S/T MAXX got 27.2m stopping distance, compared to :-
- entire rest of field being between 21.9m and 25.9m and this includes all the mud terrain tyres.
- even the offroad focused Cooper STT scored significantly better at 25.4m and the old ST much better at a respectable 22.9m.

All of this makes me wonder if this is the real performance of the S/T Maxx or has there been some issue in the testing which gave it an artificially negative performance in this area??
Tyre reviews are quite confusing.... suck it and see might be the best answer.
