I'm currently running these. They ride a little softer (less harsh) than the KL21s and are a little better in the wet. $340 ea sounds about what I paid. However I got a 4WD suspension shop to do the wheel alignment that cost about $90, and who did a good job of removing nearly all of the steering wheel pull to the left that was standard out the factory. For $44 wheel alignment, they will probably only do the front, and not all 4 wheels. Be sure they are experienced in 4WDs.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

um post #125 says you paid $399 thanks mate i should have mentioned trade prices from a very experienced shop, there are a few other tire options out there but like you mates were happy with theirs.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

Just checked, I paid $400 a corner F&B, so $340 is pretty good.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

Front two stock Kumhos on my overland are now worn bare on the outside after 16k in 9 months =( Partially my own fault I guess for not getting them rotated/balanced regularly enough (really should have been once in that time frame?)

Looking at the Coopers LTZs, any suggestions on the 275/55/20 vs 285/50/20?

Also any suggestions for a tyre dealer in Brisbane who understands Quadralift and how to fit tyres on it? =P

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

Both sizes will work, nothing should be affected by the quadralift. the 275/55 will give u more sidewall height if u drop pressures for offroading. I use Jax at Albion but I don't think they do Coopers.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

I'm running the Cooper LTZ 285/50/20. Very happy with them. Have increased fuel economy slightly but that's to be expected. In regards to quadralift, the alignment should be done in sports mode.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

There is a couple good buys on Ebay right now, Nitto, pirelli AT's and Coopers HT's all around 1000 or better.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

I also have the Cooper LTZ 285/50/20's. They fit fine. However, do be aware that because of the aggressive tread, you will have a higher fuel consumption, notice the noise levels raise at under 100kph, and will also notice the lack of sure footedness on bumps. i.e. they do not track as well as highway tyres.
I seem to have lost around 200klms per tank of diesel when in highway travel.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

I'm pretty much the same in fuel economy on the highway and about 1 to1.5 worse around town. That said, my 'town' trips are very short

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

See also 285/50/20 vs 275/55/20

So in summary...

285/50/20
closer to original speedo readings

275/55/20
speedo out 4.85%
taller, more chance of rubbing wheel well offroad
more sidewall height if you drop pressures for offroading

Both
higher fuel usage

Noise levels dependent on make/model rather than size

Missed anything?

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

my speedo reads about 102 at 100 I have 275/55/20 no big deal for me, yes consumption will go up a little I am around 10's in town but I came from a petrol Prado at around 17-18 so not fussed. My Nittos are not noisey at all.

Re: 20" Tyre Thread

Can anyone confirm 100% what setting a wheel alignment should be performed in a 2012 quadralift overland, sports or auto?, had new tires fitted today along with a 4wheel alignment I told the shop to set in sports and they told me there machine told them to set in auto or standard height as they called it!! Will take it back to be rechecked if someone here can prove them wrong cheers.
