2011 GC overland CRD engine bloody warning light

Hi guys. Just 2 weeks into my jeep adventure the engine warning and ETC warning lights have come on. In limp mode which is great as we were driving to Rainbow Beach on Monday. Not happy looks from the chief! Got to take it to local Jeep dealer first thing Monday. Please tell me it's a simple software update! It was running sweet up to this point.

A bit hard to know without error codes, do you have access to an OBD reader?

Hi mate, no I don't, but if this is an indication of what jeep ownership is going to be like I better get one. When I test drove the car the same warning lights were on. The jeep dealer said it was a DPF sensor issue! They then remedied it. That was 2 weeks ago!

Rob get the codes read before letting your dealer at it. You really want to know as much as possible.

Furthermore, if they still have your trade-in I'd be giving them formal notice to not dispose of it. I would want to keep my options open.

If you convey your general location you might find someone here will help pull the codes.

Cheers,
Steve

Steve

I am inToowoomba SE QLD. I might just warn the dealer about my trade in too! Does have a 3 year warranty though so fingers crossed should get sorted. Up to that point I loved the car.

Re: 2011 GC overland CRD engine bloody warning light

Rob if there's someone in that area who can grab your OBD data I'm sure they'll chime in. If not soon enough, you may want to pay an independent to pull them before dropping your new car off at the dealer. It shouldn't cost much, and information is power. Unfortunately, getting dicked around at the service department if probably the biggest complaint from Jeep owners in Australia. That and long waits for less common parts. It's the latter that caused me to suggest demanding your trade be kept on hold.

If you decide to grab a cheap OBD dongle to pull the codes yourself tomorrow morning, there's a lot of help here on getting it up and running on both Android and iOS devices. For Android buy a Bluetooth one, for iOS get a WiFi one.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi, I had the etc light come on and the turbo hose from the top of the radiator to the motor had come off. I just put it back on and tightened the
clamp and all good. Tightened the other clamps while I was under the bonnet. Hope this helps.
regards Russell

Yep, this will trigger the engine management light and also limp mode - hard to miss when it happens though as it goes off with a mighty thump (well ours did on our 2012, when it blew the bottom hose on the intercooler!)
There'll be oil sprayed from the hose too.
Easy to check.
