Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Has anyone found any decent seat covers to protect the suede if going to the beach other than a beach towel?
I've seen these but with shipping, they're a bit on the $$ side of things:

Wish I had a towbar fitted now due to lack of roof rails. On collection the sales guy was giving a grand tour then popped the boot, picked up the torch and...nothing. He mentioned to give it a good run to charge the batteries and quickly moved on to the next fancy shiny shiny, lol.
To entertain him I drove it 300km then took it back to book in the rear cam and the service dude quickly checked the points for amperage. He got a reading so he mentioned it was a dodgy torch.

I doubt the thing would have lasted long but still a torch is a torch is a torch...if it works :-/

Dallas I just had a look at mine and the hose sits nice and snug tucked in behind the heat shield. Mine has a zip-tie/clip at the bottom and also a zip-tie on the top holding it in place.

Thanks. I see the top zip/clip which I've popped in then pulled gently and it doesn't pop out again easily so I can't see it just doing it by itself especially as there were no wear marks on the thread of the clip. I'll recheck the bottom one.
Good that it's going in for the 1000km service which I guess is to look for these kind of things (depending on service shop)

Thx for the pics

Dallas I'm not a big believer in covering my good stuff up such that I can get another fifty bucks for the car when I sell it. I'm pretty careful by nature too. So perhaps like you I wanted something to put on in particular situations only... I had some canvas slip-ons, but they weren't airbag compliant.

The local Auto-Pro put me on to some embarrassingly named "Wet and Wild" covers. They are neoprene, so probably even better than canvas for a beach bum. I use them as slip-ons and they are snug enough to not move around excessively. I had to extend the headrest openings on the rear seat cover, aside from that they are fine out of the box. That said, I'm not sure how much your seats differ from the Overland shape. I think I paid about $60 to $80 or so. They are black with some white stitching. Surprisingly the seat cooling works fine with them on.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Wet & wild eh? Lol, I'll check them out. Yep same. Much rather enjoy using what I've paid for rather than constantly keep them covered up like the plastic covers on couches seen in 80's movies.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Some fluffy sheepskins should do the trick

....I hate seat covers too. I also hate mud flaps but looks like I'll have to give in and fit some.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

I've posted this twice elsewhere... excuse the duplication if you've seen it before... the front mud flaps are insufficient to prevent significant stone strike damage to the area immediately forward of the rear wheel arch. The photo below was taken after a short duration of gravel road travel... with mud flaps fitted. I guess the ATs I use when going away are pretty good at picking up stones... but there's obviously a clear path to the bodywork.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Thanks Steve. I am hoping that my combo of side steps and mud flaps will prevent rocks and sand from flicking up the sides.

I intend on fitting smaller front mud flaps as per the below picture. The below fronts are about 45mm shorter than the genuine Mopar items.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Ooops... forgot what you got

Yeah I just ordered a set of cheap-arsed side steps yesterday for three hundred delivered. I just can't bear to spend over a grand on something that I'm really only getting to prevent stone damage, and may even remove between trips away.

We're heading out to Kalgoorlie in a few weeks... and I know that if I don't do something, I'll end up with the same damage my last MY14 got heading to Exmouth.

Cheers,
Steve
