Hey Snuke. Yep. The manager was more pissed about the front holes than the rear as the plate is cocked. But what do you reckon?..I'm i being too axxx?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

If you actually want one, a tow bar could equal between $275 and $1200 value. The former figure is my second time DIY effort using a second hand Mopar bar, the latter being around the higher figures I hear reported for a dealer supply and fit. You'd have to determine where the value to you fits between this range, as both are option, as is everything in between.

If you do take up the offer, I'd be working in some "love" in general. Get them to pick up the tab on some scheduled services, include a premium loan car on any service or warranty visits, VIP access to the coffee machine, etc.

Or have them get it professionally repaired. There does not have to be signs of the rework.

Cheers,
Steve

Luckily there are no holes in the rear of my tailgate. They put a new hole in the number plate, which I much prefer than them drilling the car.

What I was pissed about was the front, same issue on my as above. The plate is offset to one side by about 20mm.

Only noticed after the 1000km and have not had time to go back and have a whinge to the dealer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

You'd reckon with the number of these things passing through a dealership, that someone would have thought... "let's make a template".

Cheers,
Steve

I stood over the "apprentice" (yes, he really looked that young!) to make sure he got it right... Rear slimline plates need to be lower though.

What you have pictured is the brake line fluid block that has nothing to do with the P/S fluid system.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Lakinplates arrived Friday. Have to say they're not cheap but v.well made and professional service even down to the packaging and prompt delivery...and they attach to the PROPER Jeep holes perfectly. Totally recommend.

The front follows the contour of the bumper which I'm almost happy with, fixes perfect using Jeep dimples, just not sure about the white sticker spots covering up the dealership ballsup where he drilled unevenly and above the dimples! Might use something else when I can be arsed.

Not sure about the rear slimline...maybe a fat wide plate would have looked better, still the plate sits nice and tight into the tailgate mounts and another dealership gave me some rubber plugs to insert into the purchased dealership cockup!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

I went with the cheap kingpins. They do stick out a bit, but couldn't justify the price of the lankin mounts.

I bought the kingpins first but as the jeep dimples hadn't been used the Kingpin backing plate just didn't sit right. Luckily the Kingpin covers can be used on the Lakins. So now have 2x Kingpin backing plates for sale if anyone is in need.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

I think the Kingpins cost me $33 each and are okay for plastic, but for a bit more the Lakins are top notch..Solid metal and pro-finish with security screws to boot. This with the added adhesive pads are gonna make it hard to come off for any delinquent street kids out there compared to a truck/car with easy fit ones.
But yeah, I wasn't prepared to pay at first but now I'm happy I've bought them.
