2. Give the Jeep to a recommended panel beater to fix up and go public about the dealership to show/warn other buyers/potential customers.
3. Get a replacement. As it wasn't a fault that's occurred and needs repairing. This was caused then hidden, whether intentionally or by lack of professionalism, by the dealership that wasn't shown to me the buyer.

Two tiny holes that can ruin most peoples perception of a new car. Even though a car loses value as soon as it's driven off the yard, I just feel pished that this ballsup has possibly reduced it further.

Fair trading say regardless of value, if you've paid for something that wasn't obvious when signing the contract then there's reasonable grounds for dispute.
In this case holes/defects caused by the dealership that conveniently for them, where hidden behind a fitted part (license plate and bracket) and failed to make the buyer aware of such defect and shows that buyers fall prey to dealership dishonesty and lack of integrity. Should I have been made aware, I would have not purchased this vehicle.

Any other purchase I would take back for a replacement or a full refund should a defect not be made obvious. Not sure why a new car, which is my biggest outlay within 5yrs, should be any different.

Jesus, what a rant.

Id be going down and getting my solicitor to start the proceedings.

On a positive note, I had the radio flashed today and it's loads better, now have more than 3 radio stations, yeah living the dream. Now I understand why they placed a CD player in the armrest.

Also had a slight rattle on soft acceleration. Turned out a flash upgrade sorted the timing out on the injectors too. All thanks to Bundy Jeep.

Dallas I think u will fimd this will return, I have flagged this on mine as has the neighboor and he had the re flash and it came back, they were talking to him about some upgraded ECU when available. They said they will look at mine at the 10k service.
Mine and the neighbours both kicked in around 1500klms.

That does sound about the same. I left it for a while then it started to get louder. Not sure if it's related but I looked under the drivers side and heard a constant hissing too. So I took it in but forgot to check the hissing.
Thanks for the info, I'll keep monitoring it. How many more kms did it take for it to return?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

I doubt you would have a hope in hell of getting a new car over 2 holes in the tailgate.
Any Fair trading department would deem the solutions offered by the dealer as fair and you may end up with nothing. Lawyer'ing up is only going to cost you more and result in the same solutions.
I would suggest you take the car to a reputable panel shop and ask them. Filling 2 small holes and painting is not a major deal.

Do not get so stressed over such a minor issue. You do not want to hate your car over some pinhead drilling holes. Get it fixed and move on with life.

Yeah thanks Enforcer. I was just ranting at my new wheels being defaced then had salt in the wound by shop when they offered a repair on something they ballsed up. A new replacement is unacceptable, a new tailgate isn't which will have a lifetime warranty on the paint job. Anything less will rock my OCD, it's a personal trait. Don't like it but can't help it either.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

On the panel beaters note. I spoke with an owner that dented his tailgate and his dealership sent it all the way to Noosaville from Widebay. He said he's fussy but couldn't fault the repair...I'd rather keep my door too due to the rear cam, rear dashcams and LED bulbs all recently fitted but my OCD just wants a new door

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Blackhawk

Silly question and I can't check right now but does the Jeep lock itself when it no longer detects the fob?
My missus called from the shops saying she keeps forgetting to lock using the fob compared to taking a physical key out of the ignition on other vehicles. As I always lock with the fob, I've never checked if it locks itself when it doesn't detect the fob?

Nope. If you don't lock it, it remains unlocked when you walk away.

Cheers,
Steve

As Steve said...mine is unlocked in the garage most nights.
I lock mine 90% of time with the button on the handle never take the keys out of my pocket.
