Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Safety Recall TSB for sun visor wiring is out. The procedure seems to be complicated. I won't have it done in a hurry. Let the dealer practice on others first.

I don't think it's going to crack anytime, but I do keep the leather conditioner up to it. I'll post a pic if you're still interested.

Here's some photos of my drivers seat. Just the small side panel affected by creases. Cheers!

Here's a pic of mine:

Not as much as yours - perhaps because of the different leather. It does seem to have progressed pretty fast though. I have a 15 year old Mercedes which is like that all over the seats - but that's 15 years old. Mind you, it has not got any worse since I bought it 6 years ago. If you keep a good conditioner on it, I doubt it will ever actually split. The fact that it is happening to three of us at least, and with 2 different types of leather, and only the side bolster, does seem to imply either normal wear and tear, or,really poor quality leather. I'd vote for the former, but it would be interesting to see how other cars go. Have to be a 4wd though - I think the height as you slide out increases the pressure. I tried to lower mine to entry/exit,at every gate, but was too impatient to wait 15 seconds each time!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just out of interest, here is the Mercedes seat. This is the side bolster -the seats are so low that there is no pressure on the seat cushion as you get out. This is only creased on the drivers side, too, and as I said, hasn't changed in six years and 120,000 km.ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1409473965.885872.jpg

What leather conditioner would you recommend?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I took a pic of ours but there is no point posting it because it is pretty well identical to the pic that Russell has posted. We started to notice it about 4 months ago but it hasn't worsened since that time.

I use Zaino's conditioner on the leather about once every 6-8 weeks.

ETA: The same area on our '07 GC has split. That has happened in the last year or so but stupidly I neglected the leather for all those years. Dumb I know...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I use Lexol cleaner followed by Lexol conditioner. Not a premium brand but seems to do the job. Just spent many hours getting Kimberley dust out of the nooks and crannies, and it's come up pretty good.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Not leather, but my Laredo seat cushion is squashed and the cloth is creased fairly badly. I put is down to poor quality seat foam. 58,000k.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The height of the Grand doesn't help either... it's kinda half way between normal car and a conventional 4WD. The latter you tend to step out of via a side step... the Jeep doesn't have the cabin height or the "sit on" seating position for this type of exit.

I've found that dropping the car to Entry/Exit makes a big difference to how much butt dragging occurs on getting out.

Cheers,
Steve
