Manufacturers with off road models seem to fair the worst, I wonder how many of the breakdowns were off road? With an off roader, one would have to think that they are pushing the limits of mainstream automotives, therefore would me more likely to break down..... that said, why get a jeep and not go off road? They are an adventure vehicle, and on a whole do pretty well.

Communication skills..... is that so that they can look busy on the phone when an existing customer walks in to enquire about the delivery status of their GC?

It's part of the magic.. Trick 37 - "The illusion of activity to avoid the uncomfortable questions"

I suspected this would trigger some interesting comments from you lot ..

It's called old-fashioned sales. Somewhere along the line dealerships forgot to innovate. The sales people are backwards. They need to move on with the times and start taking customer service serious. Haven't they realised that everyone has caught on to Shonky sales tactics. I think I'm gonna go to VW and buy a Toureg. At least I'll be treated like a gentlemen and the car is comparable to the Jeep.

They would be better off advertising for some one from outside the auto sales industry.
Selling holdens one day then a jeep the next is not the way to fill customers with confidence or pride

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day all,
Just back from 5 weeks in Seth Efrika so am out of touch with the news and cant wait to read the backdates.Got back at 2.00am this morning after a stuff up by Jetstar, never again with them, besides a stuffup they lied to us about it and got caught out.
So can anyone give me a brief update on our long awaited 2014 JGC. I orderd mine in mid November and would have hoped there was news when I got back from the wilds of Botswana.
I did see that Jeep Aus website still hasnt got any further info on it but I DID NOTICE that theyve upped the price of the existing JGC.
So, I'll be on the doorstep of Frankston Jeep in the mroning not that Im hopeful of any positive news.
But, in the meantime can anyone update me on the latest MY14 JGC news??

Thanks a lot, tired Bluey.

Welcome back Bluey... We are all still here hoping and praying... I too have had bad experiences with Jetstar they are rubbish and never have the words "you get what you pay for " been more true..( and they are not all that cheap when you look about)

Anyway, some folks have E numbers now in AU and there are Jeeps shipping and on the way.( see some AU orders in the tracking thread) . Local dealers still denying all knowledge like space monkeys trained to follow orders.

Would be putting the heat on Frankston for the E number, see if you have any luck. Seems no one in Vic has an E number yet, only NSW and QLD I think

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks for that Robo,
Yep, spent 25 hours getting back from Botswana, got to Perth Airport yesterday for the 10.00am back to Melbourne only to be "Advised" that flight delayed because of "Mechanical and servicing problems". Then found out the back door that the Jetstar Bali flight was the one broken down, pinched our Melbourne plane for Bali and left us stranded for 8 hours. Oh yes, generously give an $8 food voucher.
Watch out jetstar when Im finished with them.Got back to melbourne 1.00am this morning. Could have stopped up for the Dawn Service.

Yep, will be on frankston Jeeps doorstep in the morningand get that VIN/VON /E number tomorrow.Let you know. Bluey

Has anyone in AU managed to get an E number for an Overland?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Welcome back Bluey. All you have done for yourself is saved yourself a lot of frustrating angst. I have thought of going on a brief holiday to help pass the time too. I badly need some distractions. My wife believes she is a jeep widow.
May is next week. Surely news must break out soon. I wish you luck with Frankston Jeep. They are the ones who kept me waiting for 6 months only to try and supply me the wrong colour car. Very disappointed. My wait now is over 12 months. Back in October they promised to look after me with a special invoice price on the MY14 as compensation but they have not come back to me with any offers. They have not kept me informed either. The only thing I got was a response to an email I sent them about 3 - 4 weeks ago and they responded with news that my replacement MY13 (the right colour this time) was due very shortly and that they would let me know when to pick it up.
Can you believe that.

Hi Bluey,

You said upped prices? I haven't noticed any price changes since last year. RRP prices are still:

Laredo V6 Petrol - $45,000 + ORC
Laredo CRD - $50,000 "
Limited V6 Petrol - $55,000 "
Limited CRD - $60,000 "
Overland V6 Pet - $65,000 "
Overland CRD/V8 - $70,000 "
Misinformation and poor service -Still for free!! (Am I being too cynical here??)

Can't really compare the prices for SRT8 as I didn't notice them last year.

On another point, is there any difference between the Genuine towbar kit thru Jeep and, say, an aftermarket towbar? (3500 kg rating) I read on Jeep USA site that the Jeep Towing pack (Trailer Tow Group) includes additional features e.g.
  • Class IV Trailer hitch
  • Rear Load Leveling Suspension,
  • 220-amp Alternator,
  • Heavy-Duty Engine Cooling,
  • 7- and 4-pin Wiring Harness,
  • Class IV Receiver Hitch,
  • Full-Size Spare Tire,
  • Steel Spare Wheel and Delete Rear Tow Hook.
  • Trailer Sway Control (TSC).

The Aussie Jeep site only mentione the following items for the tow pack:
  • Class IV Trailer hitch
  • trailer tow wiring harness and
  • Trailer Sway Control

Is our package less endowed than the US? Also, I thought that TSC was standard on all Aussie JGC as per the attached snippet?

Regards, Bruno
