Yeah, that's how I read it too. Driving light = spotlight. Driving light is a more accurate way to describe it since they can also be spread beams, not just spot.

The Jeep performed brilliantly for 27,000km! We did a tagalong tour to Cape York and impressed dedicated Toyota owners with it: no snorkel, no side steps and road tyres all the way. No problems! Stony, slippery creek crossings and sooooo many corrugated roads: all good!

Fantastic for towing. We averaged 14l/100km all the way. Plenty of power, no dramas. Shared the road with road trains, very professional. ( except the guys out Condobolin way: 1 smashed driving light and 1 windscreen chip on the same, day, same stretch of road, 2 different trucks. Grrrr. Any idea how I can track down a driving light cover?)

We've worn out the rear latitude tyres but that's understandable. The best part about our decision to buy a Jeep was the comfort we enjoyed. Soft seats and customised heating and cooling. The car really did perform well. :
Hi Buster What were you towing and where did the tagalong start. We are going to tow a Spinifex caravan up to Cairns to catch up with friends starting from Brisbane and travel up the inland roads still in planing

Haha, the dealer did the TSB update. Shift much smoother in Eco mode. Highly recommended.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My dealer told me to drive the car and see if i have the harsh shift symptoms. Done 250kms so far and in pear hour crawling traffic the 2>3 and 3>2 shifts at low speed are pretty harsh. It thuds quiet often during those shifts are crawling speed.

Will see how it goes for the next 1000kms until the free chackup.

My last car with 6 speed ZF was butter smooth. Could not feel any gear chnages at all.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just back from another 4,000km trip towing the van. No probs, maybe the fuel consumption going up a bit but still very good.

15,000kms up now (10,000kms towing) and still no gremlins.

BUT, I want a CD player for my Laredo.

Spent hours Ripping and transferring music from cd's and also talking books onto usb's. Some audio books have up to 22 discs.

Thought I could do without the CD player but in the end, it is the best appliance for my needs. Sick of fiddling around with USB's in the cubby hole.

Now, I approached Jeep here in Melbourne and they say it cant be retro fitted if not fitted on the assembly line.

Why not???????

Pomdave has ripped his CD out Anyone want a CD player for a 2014 Laredo? and wants the bigger console box. So why cant the cd player be retrofitted to one that hasnt had it??
Ive got a car audio mob here in Melbourne investigating it for me.

Any members here can assist me in this??

Also disappointed still in the sound quality and pick up range of the radio. Very poor. My wifes 2001 VW Gold has a better sound system.

But, the big red fire truck is still purring along nicely.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm wondering if the wiring loom for the CD player will be there if the CD player wasn't installed during production....

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

In one of the removal threads there is the comment about the wiring being different. Part of that was a missing LED for those equipped with the player, and I think also that the loom for the CD player is missing. Head units are the same, so once attached it should be no issue.

Hymer, you can use a 128GB USB drive or SD card. That should be enough space to carry everything you want and more. It will also take up far less space in the car than 22CDs.
If you use iTunes, then set it to auto copy when disc inserted, and eject on finish. Keep loading to copy everything. When it’s all done, just copy the iTunes Music folder onto a USB/SD card and you’re ready to roll, it will have indexed it all. If not iTunes, the use Double Twist.

If all else fails you could get the Silver lockpick package and install whatever type of player you want. If you wanted an LP player, as long as you can connect it via RCA, it would work.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yep, thanks Snuke.

Ima a KISS man so the cd player works for me.
Have transferred many audio books and cd's onto the large capacity USB's now but with my co pilot next to me is easier to let her slot the cd discs in as we go.

She has an $80 Telstra phone that is just as good as the inbuilt unconnect system for navigation so thats no prob.

Starion is putting in a bigger centre bin in his Ltd so may get his unit with the wiring loom attached.
For the luv of me I cant see what the problem is attaching it, as you said the head unit is the same and should have the ports for it.

Thanks for the info and see how we go with it.

I see many more MY14 Laredo owners are now getting the updated rear park cameras now. Worth the effort in harrassing and embarrassing Jeep Aust into it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just had the 10k service done to the jeep. Had the drivers door aligned while there as it wasnt sitting flush with other panels when closed. But now I notice that the bolt - on the body frame that slides in to the latch on the door - hits part of the door frame instead of sliding in smoothly in to the latch. Its only by a few mm's, but Im pedantic. So, is there anyway I can fix this myself? The door needs to be angled down a tiny tiny bit. Is there some adjustment where the hinges meet the body?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi, I am looking at buying a 2nd hand 2013 JGC WK2 (MY2014) with 15000 kms in Melbourne.
Is there anything specific I should be checking on the vehicle pre-purchase?
What is the situation with extended warranty? Is it worth the hassle. I intend to go off-road with this machine. Nothing wild but certainly for fun.
